Belknap is born in Damariscotta Maine. Her parents are David Belknap, and Louise Belknap. She was a student at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle Maine. The acting was her love while she was attending Middlebury College Vermont. Following her graduation with a Master's degree in Fine Arts, she studied at the American Conservatory Theater.
